Mission Statement
Investigating the effects of individual, environmental, and other stressors on performance of ATC Specialists and aircrews.

Our Research Focus
Behavior stressors research investigates the effects of individual, environmental, and other stressors on performance of Air traffic control specialist (ATCS), aircrew, and other FAA workforces. More specifically, this program investigates variables and conditions such as, color vision deficiencies, hypoxia, OTC drugs, and alcohol which could impact safety by impairing the individual’s performance. Also, at another level, behavior stressors research investigates the effectiveness of polices, procedures, individual coping strategies, and countermeasures that are used to reduce performance decrements and enhance individual performance.

The scope of this program includes work environment issues involving ATC specialists, pilot, and other FAA workforce job performance.
