Rotorcraft - Transport Category
Following are the rules and guidance on how to certify Transport Category Rotorcraft. Though you can technically certify an aircraft under 7000 pounds to the transport rules, this is historically not done. These are the rules that govern the bigger/heavier rotorcraft (above 7000 pounds).
The rules and guidance found here include all the technical disciplines - structures, powerplant, mechanical and electrical systems and flight test. More specifically the Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 29 and Advisory Circular 29-2 include the following:
- Airworthiness Criteria for Helicopter Instrument Flight
- Applicability & Special Retroactive Requirements
- Flight Characteristics and Performance
- Icing Certification
- Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
- Operating Limitations and Information
- Powerplant Installation
- Rotorcraft Design and Construction
- Rotorcraft Strength Requirements
- Show Compliance with Requirements
- Systems and Equipment
