Biography: Ann Azevedo
Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Aircraft Safety Analysis
When she joined the FAA in 1997, Ann Azevedo brought with her 18 years of industry experience at Western Electric Corporation, chiefly at Pratt & Whitney. There, she worked on risk analysis of continued operational safety issues, manufacturing process optimization, and materials characterization.
At the FAA, Ms. Azevedo became the Risk Analysis Specialist for the Engine and Propeller directorate. She has been the lead for engine safety analysis harmonization, for engine failure recognition and response, and for risk analysis on a wide variety of issues.
Ms. Azevedo is the author of a Handbook for risk analysis, design of experiments, and statistics. She is also co-author and developer of airline pilot training material on recognizing and responding to engine malfunction.
