Louis Gomez is the program manager for Spaceport America (formerly, the Southwest Regional Spaceport, SRS), New Mexico Spaceport Authority, in Las Cruces. This office is responsible for state economic development through space commercialization ventures, including the development and building of the proposed Spaceport America. Prior to serving as program manager, he was the mission director for SRS. Mr. Gomez has worked in the New Mexico office since 1994, making up 36 years of commercial space and aerospace expertise. He served as senior technical advisor in Lockheed's Engineering and Science Company from 1987 to 1994. He worked at the NASA Johnson Space Center (White Sands Test Facility) from 1964 to 1987 in several high-level positions, including deputy chief of the Test and Operations Office, chief of the Program Control Office, and manager of the Apollo Spacecraft Program Office Site Activation.
