Our mission is to ensure protection of the public, property, and the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States during a commercial launch or re-entry activity. We also encourage, facilitate, and promote U.S. commercial space transportation.

- FAA Announces Dr. George Nield as Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation (4/30/2008)
- FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation has released a 2008 report entitled The Economic Impact of Commercial Space Transportation on the U.S. Economy (PDF). This is the fourth FAA study that focuses on the overall economic impact of the U.S. commercial space transportation industry and the industries that are enabled and supported by commercial space transportation activities. The study shows steady and genuine progress in the Nation's newest transportation industry, promising new and exciting potential for future travel and transportation services.
