Stanley A. Sieg is a member of the Senior Executive Service serving as the Deputy Director of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Aeronautical Center is the centralized service and support facility for the FAA and Department of Transportation and home to over 5,500 Federal and contract employees, with an operational budget of over $1 billion, located on 1,100 acres and occupying 55 buildings. The Aeronautical Center is home to all technical, managerial, and executive training through the FAA Academy. In addition, it houses the FAA Logistics Center, responsible for all supply chain management and depot-level maintenance, repair, and overhaul of National Airspace System (NAS) components. Also, the Center leads the FAA in shared services for information technology and accounting systems and operations through its Enterprises Services Center. Major tenants of the Aeronautical Center include the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute, Aviation System Standards, NAS Engineering, the U.S. Coast Guard, Transportation Safety Institute, and the Transportation Security Administration.
Prior to joining the FAA, Mr. Sieg served 30 years on active duty in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Brigadier General. His previous responsibilities included developing and implementing contracting and acquisition policies and processes, acquiring $31 billion in research and development, production, test and logistics support for Air Force systems and infrastructure. Additionally, he served as Director of Logistics for the Air Force Material Command managing over $10 billion annually in Air Force wholesale supply and depot maintenance activities for over 23,000 personnel.
Mr. Sieg was commissioned as a Reserve Officer Training Corps Distinguished Graduate following graduation from the University of New Mexico in 1970. He entered active duty in 1972 with a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma.
He has held a variety of assignments in acquisition, logistics and contracting, including at the Secretary of the Air Force level, as a DoD Plant Representative, and as a depot commander in Korea. He served as Inspector General for the Air Force Materiel Command and as the Director of Propulsion, managing and repairing over half of the Air Force’s engines. Prior to his current position, Mr. Sieg led the FAA’s Logistics Center implementing industry best practices, including Lean/Six Sigma.
Mr. Sieg holds the highest Acquisition Professional Development Program certifications in Program Management, Acquisition Logistics and Contracting, and is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, Class XVII. Mr. Sieg is married to the former Elizabeth Wilkinson of Melbourne, Florida. They have three daughters: Jaclyn, Shannon and Shelby.
