E-Government refers to the government’s use of technology to enhance the access to, and delivery of, government information and services. E-Government endeavors to significantly evolve governmental capabilities for the future, and it is a recognition that information technology (IT) is continuing to serve as a major enabler for business innovation and change. E-Government encourages the sharing of selected systems as a way to save funds, and aims to provide anytime, anywhere access to information and services. Because the FAA’s mission focuses on keeping airplanes separated, safety regulation, and economic efficiency, the agency has a heavy reliance on IT and is a major spender on IT products and services. The FAA must continue to take advantage of advancements in technology to maintain and improve its productivity, quality, security, and customer service.
