The Europe, Africa, Middle East Area Office serves as the Chief Counsel's senior representative within the Region, representing the Administrator in matters of law that have been delegated to the Chief Counsel. The Office provides legal advice to the Region's Director, offices and personnel.

The Office also provides legal support for the Civil Aviation Security Regulatory Enforcement Programs, including the Dangerous Goods Program; reviews agreements and other written instruments for legal sufficiency; serves as liaison in legal matters to civil aviation authorities and other governmental and quasi-governmental organizations; and acts as the ethics officer for agency personnel within the geographical area.
